Abstract. The separation factor method is a simple approach used with
the numerical model simulations to isolate the main effect of some
prescribed factors affecting the formation and development of an
event in the atmosphere. It is also used to isolate the effects of two or
more interacting factors. In this study the effect of an increase of the
sea surface temperature and a decrease of upper wind on the formation
and development of an east Mediterranean cyclone is studied. The
results indicate that the upper wind is the dominant factor compared to
the sea surface temperature in the cyclogenesis. |
